The American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act of 2021 dedicated funds to the the Elementary and Secondary School Education Relief (EESER) grant. The intent of this grant is to provide education funding to address needs from the COVID-19 pandemic and support the safe reopening and operation of schools.

TEA has released two-thirds of the total allocation to Texas School Districts. The remaining one-third will be made available upon the USDE's approval of the states spending plan.
